Design Fixes For Code
Here are some tips to fix some common issues with designs in order to make them ready to code.
Shadow over 1000 pixels
If you have a drop shadow or outer glow on the outside of the main body, and the main body is already 1000 pixels, you need to make sure that shadow is hidden by the time it reaches the vertical repeating slice. Here is how:
- duplicate the layer with the shadow
- turn off the shadow effect on the duplicated layer
- On the original layer, open up the effect diologue, choose "Blending Options Custom" at the top above the list of effects, and check off "Layer Mask Hides Effects"
- Add a mask to the original layer, select the gradient tool and make sure the Linear Gradient is selected on the upper left (toolbar). Drag your mouse from the bottom of the layer up; at least as far as to make sure the shadow dissipates by the repeating slice, though you may need to go further to make it look good. Where you start the drag will be 100% transparent.
